I am delighted to share my journey and vision behind the establishment of LeDeG Midwifery College. At the beginning of my retirement, I made a personal decision to invest my own funds into this initiative, driven by a profound desire to reduce the high maternal and infant mortality rates in Ethiopia and to empower disadvantaged rural girls through education. My goal has always been to contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of education and healthcare within our communities.

These dedicated professionals return to their rural communities, making a tangible difference in the lives of mothers and infants, and saving lives in the process. I am immensely proud to learn from our recent impact assessment survey that our graduates are not only valued by their communities but also recognized by regional health bureaus for their contributions.

At LeDeG, we are committed to continuous improvement and innovation, striving to train and produce more midwives who can serve the hard-to-reach areas of our country. Our mission remains steadfast: to ensure that every woman has access to quality maternal healthcare and that our midwives are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the needs of their communities.

Personally, I take great pride in having invested my retirement funds and time into this fulfilling endeavor. This journey is not just about education; it is about creating change, breaking barriers, and uplifting future generations.
